Are You Making This Common Google Adwords Mistake?

mistake

Google Adwords can be a real minefield if you don’t know your way around it. Something I haven’t talked about on this blog before came to my attention this week  when I was reviewing a campaign for a new client.

Find out what this one common mistake is and how fixing it can save you money.

Starting off on the right foot

This tip won’t apply to every campaign or website but there are millions of sites out there that aren’t responsive – in other words they don’t work correctly on mobile devices such as phones and tablets.

Take a look at the screenshot at the end of this post. In the devices section, people usually select ‘all devices’ as they want their ads show as much as possible. The trouble with this is a lot of websites simply don’t work on all devices.

So let’s say your Adwords ad displayed on a mobile phone and someone clicked on your ad (which costs you money). If your site doesn’t function or display properly on the same device, people will simply leave and that will be some of your budget wasted.

Check your site, save your cash

If you check your site on a laptop, desktop, smartphone and tablet device to see how it performs, you can then choose the right devices from the Adwords campaign settings menu. That way you’ll only pay for clicks safe in the knowledge that at least visitors are seeing your site at its best, rather than a dysfunctional version.
